Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Igne is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our expanding Geoenvironmental division based from Walsall. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to take a lead role in delivering technically robust, commercially focused geo-technical solutions across a diverse range of projects.

As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of ground investigations, provide expert interpretation and assessment, play a key role in mentoring and developing team members and develop client relationships. You will be responsible for delivery of high-quality outputs that reflect Igne’s reputation for excellence. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Liaise with clients, and design and cost intrusive ground investigations
• Lead project teams and ensure deliverables are on time and within budget
• Enforce Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards.
• Provide expertise including, but not limited to, design of foundations, retaining walls, slope stability and earthworks. Review and approve complex designs, calculations, and technical reports (e.g., GIRs, desk studies, earthworks strategies).
• Coach and mentor junior and senior engineers and support the continuous professional development of the team.
• Cultivate client relationships to generate repeat business and identify new market opportunities.

Essential Criteria:

• BSc or BEng in a relevant geological or civil engineering discipline.
• Proven track record in project management, client development and technical delivery.
• Post Graduate degree in geology, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering or associated discipline
• Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
• Full UK driving licence (UK travel required)

Desirable:

• Chartership or working towards Chartership - Desirable
